This particular knife is called " Saracca romagnola " and is the faithful reproduction of a typical Romagna knife originating in the Ravenna area dating back to the mid-nineteenth century whose name derives from the sea bream as they share a tapered shape. It was mainly used in the countryside during the brawls or tavern duels very frequent at that time despite the laws of the time forbidding its port. The 11 cm long blade is made of steel and has an incision called "blood drain" and an opening system defined as "3 snaps" while the handle is made from a single piece of ox horn .
