The braided ropes are of superior quality. They are made of various materials, all with specific characteristics for the outdoors: they ensure high resistance to rain, salt, premature discoloration, mold. While ensuring high mechanical resistance, it is best to avoid contact of the fiber with sharp or cutting objects that could damage it irreversibly. For cleaning, where necessary, we recommend using a soft-bristled brush and a neutral soap with warm water.
Selected Indonesian
teak wood from controlled and sustainable forests (INDONESIANLEGALWOOD). Teak is classified as the most valuable wood available for outdoor furniture. It is extremely durable, stable, resistant to atmospheric agents, fungi, parasites and insects. It contains high levels of natural oils that make it resistant and limit the absorption of humidity. Over time, teak furniture exposed to the sun, rain, humidity, etc. generally tends to become silvery-grey in color: this is due to a surface oxidation process that naturally protects the wood. This process is purely aesthetic and does not damage the structure or quality of the wood. The appearance of oil on the surface of teak furniture is a natural process: the oil may come out during the first few months, more or less consistently depending on the environment in which the furniture is placed. The natural oils present in teak are what makes it the best wood for outdoor furniture.
We do not recommend placing new teak furniture outdoors on porous stone floors, at least until the oil surfacing process has subsided. We do not recommend leaving cushions in direct contact with teak surfaces during this process as they will most likely become stained (fabrics stained with natural teak oil can still be cleaned with water and neutral soap). The amount of oil that comes out of the teak during the first few months will be more abundant and therefore more likely to cause stains on surfaces and fabrics.
Since teak is a naturally oily wood, it is not suitable for painting. Any finish applied will not adhere properly to the surface and will start to deteriorate after a while. We do not recommend the use of wood oil on teak: it does not offer additional protection, in fact, an excess of external oil can lead to the formation of mold on the dark colored surface layers. These stains can then only be removed with aggressive sanding.
